Bari-Uma Ramen Food Review at Jaya Shopping Centre

Bari-Uma Ramen is located inside the Jaya Shopping Centre which is a nostalgia place for many of the residents in Petaling Jaya. It has been rebuilt into a new shopping mall and launches lately with many attracting restaurants such as this ramen shop, Bari-Uma Ramen. Bari-Uma Ramen is well known in Japan and they start to expand to other countries including Malaysia. Their aim is to let customers enjoy their authentic taste of Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen directly from Japan. As we are looking for nice food, we decided to give this ramen shop a try. According to the website, Bari-uma ramen is a super rich tonkatsu shoyu ramen using high quality soy sauce as the soup base with natural flavor of tonkatsu. The creamy soup of
potherb, chicken foot, pork bone and other ingredients are boiled together for more than 10 hours.

Inside the Bari-Uma Ramen shop.  We came here quite early around 6 pm so not many customers yet.  The staffs are ready to roll out the bowls of ramen.  There is this glass wall on both sides of the shop so that you can see people walking around while enjoying your bowl ramen.  Another side show the old buildings of Seksyen 14.

All Bari-Uma’s ramen noodles are freshly made in-house.

Some nice Japanese style decoration with bamboos inside the shop near the entrance to welcome the customers.

Noticed the Touch n Go banner.  Yes, now you can pay the bill with Touch n Go card and get 15% off.  Too bad laupoh didn’t bring her Touch n Go card that day.

Spotted this Maneki-neko, which is often believed to bring good luck to the owner.

The wooden tables and chairs inside Bari-Uma Ramen restaurant with round shaped lamp gives us a nice pleasant dining experience.

The Bariuma Spirits!  Let’s see if we experienced it with our visit.  Yes, our ramen is hot.  The staff greeted us with big and cheerful voice.  Their service is also wonderful and the table and utensils are clean and shiny.

The Food at Bari-Uma Ramen (Ramen and Gyoza)

Bari-Uma Ramen Food Review at Jaya Shopping Centre
My bowl of Ajitama-Uma ramen at Bari-Uma Ramen, described as pork flavored shoyu soup “Ajitama” with thick-cut flamed chashu.  Ajitama actually means the flavored egg and if you do not want the egg, you can order the Bari-Uma which looks the same to me but without the egg.  Another thing I love about Bari-Uma ramen is that you can order the small sized ramen and reduce the price by RM 3.  For me, those ramen shop’s noodle portion are too big such as the one at Menya Musashi Ramen @ Isetan Eat Paradise, One Utama.  However, it might not worth the price for some as it is only reduced by RM 3.

Look at the thick-cut flamed chashu in the creamy pork soup and the perfect Ajitama (flavored egg)!

Close up on this thick-cut flamed chashu.  It has full aroma of barbecue and meat is juicy and tender enough for wanting to bite the next piece.

The flavored egg (Ajitama) is also very delicious and it is worth the upgrade from Bari-Uma ramen.  So nice that I regretted didn’t enjoy it slowly but you know hard is it not to swallow the soft tasty egg when it is in your mouth.

This is laupoh’s spicy Kara-Uma ramen.  The ingredients are same, the thick-cut flamed chashu in pork flavored soup but spicy.

We also ordered this gyoza but honestly it is a bit disappointing for me as it is not as crispy and juicy as I imagined.

The first page of Bari-Uma menu.  Click here for larger size.  You can order your favorrite ramen with extra toppings such as Ajitama (flavoured egg), spring onions, corn, dry seaweed and bamboo shoots.  You can also choose to have light soup if the original soup is too strong taste or too creamy for you.  For me the soup is just nice.  If you love chashu very much, you can also order Chashu-Uma with 4 pieces of thick-cut flamed chashu.

The second page of the menu for Bari-Uma Ramen.  Click here for full size.  There are a few types of gyoza such as pan-fried, boiled, teri-yaki and negi-mayo.  You can also order the flamed chashu if the one in your ramen is not enough, or you can order other food such as the flamed salmon and yakitori.  Since their flamed chashu is so nice I believe the yakitori should be nice too.  And you can also order matcha (green tea) ice cream or kurogoma (black sesame) ice cream to end your delicious bowl of ramen noodle.
