Boat Noodle is a new restaurant in The School, Jaya One, which is opening soon as they are doing food trial this week. Boat Noodle already has a branch at Empire Damansara as blogged by Eat Drink KL but we never get the chance to try it yet and we are so excited when we noticed Boat Noodle is opening a branch here near our office.
At Thailand, boat noodle or Kuai-tiao ruea or ก๋วยเตี๋ยวเรือ in Thai literary means the noodle are sold in a small boat. Boat noodle uses rice noodle and served with chicken or beef. This Boat Noodle is pork free and you can choose from sour or spicy gravy. Not sure about the full menu as it is the food trial period.
The chicken boat noodle is served with a fish ball, parsley and other ingredients that make it very flavourful and sour at the same time. It is so punchy and will definitely wake up your taste bud so that you can keep ordering the next bowl. As you already noticed here, the portion is very small. This photo is not the left over but the original portion of a bowl of boat noodle which cost around RM 2 per bowl. You can finish the noodle with one mouthful (fish ball might not be included depending on the size of your mouth). For me, I start to feel full after the 5th bowl.
The drinks are served in this traditional aluminum cup and the vintage table make us feel like eating at a traditional stall at Bangkok, Thailand. The fish ball is also very delicious and goes well with the noodle. The chicken and the beef slices are chewy and tasteful but too little for me and make me want to keep eating another bowl.
There were 3 of us eating together. Can you count how many bowls we have eaten so far and we are still hungry?
Since we are still hungry, we ordered another round of boat noodles. Actually I’m not sure if we ordered so many or the waiters keep feeding us with more noodles?
Shot this photos to compare our bowls with the neighbour who have just left.
A view of the Boat Noodle’s interior which looks like a traditional Thai’s shop.
More and more bowls of boat noodles.
The ending of our boat noodle adventures. Total 38 bowls of boat noodles.
The boat outside of the shop and a Thailand’s road sign.
This new outlet of Boat Noodle is located at level P2 at The School, Jaya One, below the other new noodle shop, Go Noodle House. Nice to see more and more shop opening in this new mall.
