Ah Leong Laksa at Taman Melur, Butterworth, Penang is our first meal here in Butterworth. It is actually a terrace house in the housing area of Taman Melur. There are no signboard nor WAZE has the exact location. So the best way to reach here is by searching for the road name, 1, Lorong Melur 16. When we reached here around 2 pm, there are many customers already but we still manage to find a table. This place not only selling laksa but other Penang food such as cendol / ice kacang, chai kuey and fish balls.
Leng zhai preparing the laksa. Perhaps this is Ah Leong? We were too shy to ask.
The food of Ah Leong Laksa
Laksa is delicious but less sour and the taste is lighter than the Air Itam laksa we ate at Penang island. Personally I still prefer the Air Itam one. The price is only RM 3.20 for small bowl and RM 3.70 for big bowl. Very cheap compared to hawker food in Petaling Jaya / Kuala Lumpur.
Cooling ice kacang / cendol, RM 2.00 with added ice cream for RM 0.50. Everything inside is fresh and delicious.
Another angle of the cendol / ice kacang. Ice cream top up is recommended.
This is the Chai Kueh (Steamed Vegetables Dumplings). The skin is soft with generous amount of vegetables.
Inside of the Chai Kueh showing the generous amount of chives
Another type of Chai Kueh with jicama. I prefer this type personally.
Homemade fish ball, RM 0.40 per piece. Very bouncy and delicious.
The menu of the Ah Leong Laksa house. Laksa for RM 3+ and other snacks are all below RM 1.
The dessert and beverage menu. We only tried the ice kacang / cendol here. The 932 Lime Juice looks interesting though.
Ah Leong Laksa is located in this terrace house. When you have reached the road, it is easy to spot it.
