Restoran Wah Xing, Jalan Pasir Puteh, Ipoh

Dinner at Restoran Wah Xing, Jalan Pasir Puteh, Ipoh.

Restoran Wah Xing at Jalan Pasir Puteh, Ipoh is where we had our dinner during our Ipoh trip. We came here directly after having dessert at Tong Sui Kai – 糖水街 (Dessert Street). We were actually looking for Restaurant Peng Tau but failed to locate it. So, we asked a jogger if there is any nice Chinese dai chao and he pointed us to this new restaurant nearby. Since we are all hungry, we decided to give it a try. Is it delicious? Reads on to find out more.

Restoran Wah Xing serves awesome deep fried pork rib and steamed Red Tilapia fish.

Restoran Wah Xing Ipoh's Signature dish - Foh Yim Pai Kuat (Deep fried pork rib with sticky sauce)
Foh Yim Pai Kuat (Deep Fried Pork Rib with special sticky sauce) is recommended by the staff at Restoran Wah Xing. Quite yummy and I have never tasted this sauce before. Normally pork rib in Chinese Restaurant are marmite, XO or Guinness sauce. The pork rib is cooked perfectly and every bite is satisfying.

Steamed Red Tilapia with Restoran Wah Xing Ipoh's special sauce.
The next recommendation is this steamed Red Tilapia fish in Restoran Wah Xing’s special sauce. The fish is very fresh and the sauce is not bad at all. My top favourite sauce for steamed fish is still spicy sour sauce from BBQ Thai: Thai Street Food at Old Klang Road

Restoran Wah Xing Ipoh's Kangkung Belacan (stir-fried water spinach with prawn paste)
A normal dish in a Chinese restaurant, the stir-fried kangkung belacan (water spinach with prawn paste), to balance our meal. The kangkung belacan here is saltier than most of the kangkung belacan I tried in Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur.

Inside of Restoran Wah Xing, Ipoh
The interior of Restoran Wah Xing. Full house on the night we came here. The kitchen area is open. We saw the chef preparing the Red Tilapia non-stop. Must be a lot of order for the Red Tilapia fish.

In front view of Restoran Wah Xing. So many customers until they have to setup more tables outside. That’s all for now. Stay tuned for my next post of our Ipoh trip.

  1. Actually, this Restoran Wah Xing was formerly the dai chao in Restaurant Peng Tau which you were trying to locate. They have shifted out from Peng Tau and is now doing business as Restoran Wah Xing in this new place. The pork rib is one of their signature dishes.
